Director, Medical Affairs

The Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for leadership of the medical science liaison (MSL) team and all other related Medical Affairs functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, strategy, and direction to all Medical Affairs functions (i.e. MSLs, drug information, post-marketing trial development and execution, continuing medical education, medical communications / publication planning, etc.)
  • Function as a liaison between clinical, drug safety, regulatory, and commercial for all medical affairs related activities and issues
  • Thought Leader development
  • Participate in grant request and commercial committees
  • Work regularly with team members both in corporate HQ and field to assure all activities are aligned with corporate goals
  • Inspire and deliver a respectful, inclusive, and productive environment
  • Provide prompt and constructive feedback to employees on performance
  • Insure that all team members have the tools they need to effectively perform their roles
  • Travel required

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in medical science (MD, PharmD, or PhD)
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of industry MSL management experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of Medical Affairs and the compliance issues concerning medical affairs functions
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, and can effectively work within a matrix structure to influence results
  • Ability to compile and disseminate information to others in a cohesive fashion to assure a clear understanding of project status and direction
